WHY WE'RE DOING THIS

SITUATION: CRITICAL

On 20 March 2020, when the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, announced the first round of packages to support people’s incomes, he stated these were “unprecedented measures for unprecedented times".

The Chancellor has since frequently said that he will "do whatever it takes" to protect people and businesses from the financial consequences of the pandemic, and has extended further support to many.

DESPITE THIS, HE HAS CONTINUED TO ALLOW A HUGE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS AND SMALL BUSINESSES TO FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS HE CREATED, WITH DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES FOR THOSE LEFT OUT.

We're calling on him to close those cracks, before it's too late.

Our fight goes on

Businesses have been closed, venues have gone dark, and millions are paying the price.

And yet, the government continue to ignore us, and continue to claim they are supporting 'everyone'.

Today, there are millions living with unexpected and extreme financial pressure.

Previously viable employees and employers continue to be 'left out in the cold'.

#ExcludedUK and #WeMakeEvents both exist to provide support for those facing emotional and financial hardship caused by the pandemic and resulting restrictions, providing a range of free services, not limited to but including emergency financial support and (through counselling and related programmes) mental health support to those that need it most.

And until the government support everyone, we won't stay silent.
